Common questions
How do I sign in?
Billig supports three sign-in methods, all passwordless:
- Magic link by email, enter your email, we'll send a sign-in link.
- Google Sign-In
- Apple Sign-In
You can also use the Billig app as a guest (no account) to scan up to 5 receipts before being asked to create an account. To extract text from a receipt without creating an account or uploading an image, use the free browser receipt scanner.
How do I delete my account or data?
Open the app → Account → Privacy → Delete account & data. This permanently removes your account, all receipts and images, all chat history, and all push tokens. You'll receive a confirmation email at the address linked to your account.
How do I export my data?
Open the app → Account → Privacy → Export my data. We send you a JSON export of your account, receipts, and spending summary data. Free accounts can export once per rolling 30-day period; Pro accounts can export 10 times per rolling 30-day period.
What are the usage limits?

Receipt scanning is not capped by your plan. To protect the service from automated abuse, receipt AI processing has a separate safety limit of 30 requests per hour.

The chat says "Rate limit exceeded", what now?
You've used the Free allowance of 5 Bon answers in a rolling 24-hour period. Capacity returns as the oldest answers leave that window. Pro increases the allowance to 100 answers per rolling 24 hours.
Why does AI scanning sometimes get items wrong?
The AI is good but not perfect. Review important fields after each scan. If a result is wrong, delete it and scan a clearer, well-lit image. We use Google Gemini under the hood; for unusually formatted receipts (faded print, exotic layouts) accuracy drops. Send us a sample atsupport@getbillig.com if a particular merchant consistently misreads.
I'm on Android, where do I download?
The Android version isn't out yet. We're finalizing the Play Store rollout. Drop your email on thewaitlist and we'll send you the link the moment it's ready.
I lost access to my email, what now?
Without access to your sign-in email, we cannot recover your account for security reasons (we don't store passwords or recovery questions). Contactsupport@getbillig.com with details and we'll do our best to help, but recovery is not guaranteed.
How is my data protected?
See our Privacy Policy for the full picture. Highlights:
- Sign-in tokens stored in iOS Keychain or Android Keystore.
- All API traffic over TLS 1.2+.
- Receipt images served only to the authenticated owner; ownership verified server-side on every request.
- No advertising or data sales. Website analytics are limited to explicit product and page events; automatic interaction capture and session replay are disabled.
